Today, students worked on learning the remaining concepts related to fungi. They summarized the details about the importance of fungi, including lichen, in ecosytems, to human health, and in biotechnology. They also worked on filling out the organizer table on Kingdom Fungi. Finally, some worked on a "self quiz" on protists and fungi. There will be a test on these two kingdoms of microorganisms next Thursday.
On Thursday students completed a lab activity to determine if yeast were alive. It was determined that yeast are alive and that they produce a gas (carbon dioxide) when they have sugar to metabolize, and in warm moist conditions.
