Exam Hint: Remember to study all the tests from the course!

Today we reviewed the second half of unit one. Tomorrow we will review the microbiology unit.

On Tuesday, we reviewed unit 1 with an emphasis on cells, organelles, and the macromolecules of life.

Today students wrote their lab exam. Tuesday-Thursday classes will be for exam review.

On Friday the class finished the fetal pig dissections. Remember to study for Monday's Lab Exam. Write me through a comment on the blog if you have any questions.

Today we began the fetal pig dissections. The abdominal cavity organs were examined. The chest cavity organs will be looked at tomorrow as we conclude the lab. Remember, your lab exam is on Monday!

On Wednesday we had a few more presentations from students and then they completed the Determining Lung Volume lab.

Today students presented their projects on a human disorder. Absent students will present tomorrow. If Wednesday is a snow day, be sure to check this blog for instructions for getting ready for the dissection.

Today we took up the circulatory system test and then we discussed some of the handouts/worksheets on the respiratory system from Friday. Students completed all the questions on these sheets, including the function table on all the parts of the respiratory sytem. We will be doing the lab called "Measuring Lung Volumes" tomorrow. Students should have read this lab by now.

Today we continued looking at the respiratory system. Students labeled a diagram of the human system and wrote about the functions of each part. We then looked at the mechanics of breathing: inspiration and expiration. On Monday, we will do a lung volume lab.

On Thursday, students continued with the note on the excretory system. They wrote brief descriptions on four kidney diseases and then they wrote about hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. We then began the respiratory system by looking at the anatomy of this system.

Students wrote the circulatory system test today and then viewed an episode of the Body Atlas on the respiratory system.

Today we discussed the fact that there is really only two weeks of classes left before exam week begins. Students should be intensely focused on the work ahead, studying for exams, and booking time off of work and other social activities.
Students worked at completing the Effect of Exercise on Blood Pressure and Heart Rate lab report. It is due today. It will be accepted late tomorrow. Students also elected to have a test on the circulatory system on Wednesday Jan. 7th.
